Community Outreach Video: Academy Sports & Outdoors and Gameday for Heroes
The Assignment: Academy Sports & Outdoors was giving a large gift card to a local military family. The family was coming to the store right before Christmas to do some last minute shopping. Afterwards, they were going to be surprised with tickets to the Sugar Bowl, in partnership with Gameday for Heroes and Auburn University. Academy wanted documentation of the family shopping, the kids' excitement for Christmas and the presentation of the tickets. The video was to be used on social media.
Not only does this video show nice and helpful employees, great merchandise and Christmas present ideas, but it also shows Academy honoring a military family. According to a Fortune article from August 2016, 2/3 of millennials prefer a company that is involved in philanthropic programs. And since millennials outnumber baby boomers, they are a good consumer base to target.
